Festival de las Artes de Valparaíso 2014

Desde ayer 30 de enero hasta el domingo 2 de febrero se está desarrollando la cuarta versión del Festival de las Artes de Valparaíso (FAV) ¡Son más de 50 actividades gratuitas!

Los principales ejes serán las plazas Sotomayor, Aníbal Pinto y Cívica, el Eje Brasil, los auditorios Osmán Pérez Freire (cerro Mariposa) y Guillermo Bravo (cerro Cordillera), y la playa San Mateo,

Actividades

Hoy viernes 31 de enero (12 horas) en el Parque Cultural de Valparaíso, se presentará la Orquesta Cormuval, auspiciado por la Fundación de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Chile y el Fondo de Fomento de la Música Nacional, y patrocinado por el Conservatorio e Instituto de Música de la Pontificia UCV y la Ilustre Municipalidad de Valparaíso.

El sábado 1 de febrero en la playa Santa Mateo (11 horas) será el turno del espectáculo en vivo del conjunto “Tikitiklip” dedicado a un público infantil. A las 21 horas de ese mismo día Los Blue Splendor se presentarán en el Auditorio Osmán Pérez Freire (cerro Mariposa).

La compañía de teatro Coraje, presentará a las 21:00 del sábado en el auditorio Guillermo Bravo del cerro Cordillera la obra “El fantasista”, adaptación de la novela del escritor Hernán Rivera Letelier.

El domingo 2, el cierre estará a cargo del compositor y bandoneonista argentino Dino Saluzzi, quien realizará un concierto en la Plaza Aníbal Pinto.

Es interesante revisar que habrán Rutas, Eventos y Permanentes. En las rutas se destaca Las Rutas por la Identidad de los Barrios Porteños y en las muestras permanentes la adopción masivas de árboles en la Plaza Sotomayor.

Gourmet Sandwich Fair

As I’ve mentioned before, Chileans are on top of their sandwich game, and today commences the 3rd Sandwich Fair (Feria del Sánguche) in Parque Araucano, with special homage to the gourmet sandwiches of Chile’s culinary heritage. 

More than 20 flavorful restaurants and eateries will participate in this tasty event, including Haussmann, La Superior, La Naranja Mecánica, CaezaePescao, Hogs, Rincón Sureño and La Sanguchería. Classes, workshops, contests and activities for the kids include some of additional activities. 

There will also be musical preformances by Los Tetas, Electrodomésticos, and Vila Cariño.

International Festival for Human Rights

This weekend is the International Festival for Human Rights (Festival Internacional Derechos Humanos Para Tod@s). The Chilean Commission on Human Rights (CCHDH) and the Chilean Commission for Youth Rights (CODEJU) have been defending and promoting human rights in Chile for decades. 

As this year marked the 40th year commemorating Pinochet’s military coup, this cultural event is just one of the many activities promoting human rights organized by these organizations to raise awareness, especially among the youth, and give homage to the victims of the dictatorship.

33rd International Book Fair in Santiago #FILSA2013

Yesterday was the inauguration of the 33rd International Book Fair in Santiago. Today, the fair is officially open to the public for all of you avid readers, and this year the reader is the guest of honor! Aside from displaying and launching books, comics, magazines and such, there will also be theatrical performances, public forums, signings, photography and even soccer - more than 600 activities to choose from!

100 en 1 día: Foto Ruta

Remember our article about 100 en 1 día? 

Cat from Foto Ruta are gonna participate tomorrow (Sunday 20th), here the details for the event. Here's the info in the words of Cat Allen:

"Basically it is a mini Foto Ruta, an hour long version of our Weekly clue based product. We will start off with a 15 minute photography creative workshop, all participants will receive 3 clues, completely open to interpretation, and will then have 30 minutes to independently take photos in the surrounding area.

We are meeting outside of Cafe Literario, Parque Bustmante (on the grass by the northern entrance). Afterwards everyone will regroup (I will have blankets on the ground) and we will share the photos everyone has taken. 

There is also the opportunity for participants to upload their favourite photo taken on the day to our facebook page (www.facebook.com/foto-rutaSTGO) for a chance to win a full Foto Ruta experience, worth $16.000"

USA Food Festival

Today is the commencement of the three day USA Food Festival! Everyone will have the chance to try US products already in Chile, as well as new products set to hit the Chilean shelves in the near future. 

Participants include 11 US food importers from Chile which will showcase about 80 different brands of food, such as: Florida’s Natural Orange Juice, organic products from Eden Foods, Pringles, Heinz, Parade, Sushi Chef, Casa Fiesta, Maruchan, Jim Beam, M&M Mars, Splenda, Hershey, Mc Cormick, Smuckers, Tabasco, Otis Spunkmeyer, etc.

SANFIC9 Santiago Festival Internacional de Cine

Empezando el próximo Viernes 23 hasta el 31 de Agosto, se realizará en Santiago, la 9a versión del Festival Internacional de Cine de Santiago (SANFIC9), Dieciocho largometrajes nacionales serán parte de la programación de la novena edición del festival, incluyendo en distintas secciones tanto producciones de ficción como documentales. La Competencia Internacional contará con dos películas locales y la Competencia de Cine Chileno tendrá nueve títulos. Además, el certamen ofrecerá el estreno sudamericano de “Las líneas de Wellington”, producción europea dirigida por la chilena Valeria Sarmiento.

En esta novena versión del festival convergen productores, directores, distribuidores, críticos de cine, actores y público en torno a las más recientes y destacadas producciones nacionales e internacionales, entregándole a Santiago y al país un marco único de encuentro, calidad y actualidad.
